The Consul General of Singapore for Batam, Gavin Ang, praised the rapid progress of investment in Batam under the leadership of the Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, and the Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra.
This was conveyed when he received a working visit from Member/Deputy for Investment and Entrepreneurship, Fary Francis, at the Singapore Consulate General's Office, Wyndham Hotel, Panbil, on Thursday (19/2) morning.
The Singaporean Consul judged that this was because BP Batam had shown significant progress in its investment service approach, which was now more adaptive, responsive, and solution-oriented.
This change reflects BP Batam's shift in role from a mere regulator to an active facilitator, creating a more welcoming investment environment for investors.
According to him, BP Batam is now increasingly proactive in helping to resolve project challenges and providing direct support to investors, thereby strengthening the perception of service certainty and ease of doing business in Batam.
“This approach is very different; how BP Batam approaches investors, and this was responded to with great enthusiasm by the investors,” revealed Gavin.
This new approach is seen as a positive signal for international investors, which can increase confidence in Batam as a strategic gateway in the regional economic landscape.
“We appreciate BP Batam, everyone can see Batam's performance in overcoming investor challenges,” he said.
Meanwhile, Member/Deputy of Investment and Business Development, Fary Francis, stated that his presence, along with his team, was to strengthen the existing partnership.
On that occasion, Fary expressed his appreciation to the Singaporean Consul General, Gavin Ang. It was mentioned that throughout 2025, Singapore's investment realisation in Batam remained the largest.
“We consider and feel that the partnership with the Consulate General of Singapore is a strength for BP Batam, for that, thank you for the support provided,” said Fary.
Fary stated his side's commitment to continue building a transparent and efficient licensing governance foundation, as well as the readiness of skilled labour for industry needs.
“The existence of a real-time monitoring dashboard, an investment clinic, investment ambassadors, and the Mantab application system are forms of innovation and follow-up to the President's direction to make Batam a role model for an investment-friendly region,” Fary concluded.
Accompanying the Deputy for Investment and Business Development, Fary Francis, were Director of Investment, Dendi Gustinandar, and Director of Development of KPBPBB and SEZs, Irfan Syakir. (AP)
