In order to encourage the development and ordering of areas in Batam City, the Integrated Team (Timdu) of Batam City carried out the demolition of illegal buildings in Sei Binti Village, Sagulung District, on Thursday (16/4).

More than 400 joint personnel from Ditpam, Satpol PP, TNI, Polri, the Prosecutor's Office, the District Court, PLN, and the local sub-district and district participated in the activity.

The activity was led directly by the Head of Sub-Directorate for Asset and Vital Object Security of BP Batam, I Gede Putu Dedy Ujiana. Putu stated that the crackdown was carried out on 23 buildings on land that had been allocated by BP Batam to companies.

“This order aims to accelerate investment in the region so that the community's standard of living can improve,” he said.

Putu explained that the enforcement was carried out humanely and measurably through stages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. The enforcement was also assisted by two excavators and lorries to move the belongings of the building owners.

“Efforts to socialise and persuade, as well as administrative measures including notices 1, 2, and 3, and demolition notices, have been carried out,” he said.

They hope the public will no longer build on land that does not belong to them. Previously, in the same area, over 400 building owners had received compensation and agreed to move from the land. (AP)
