The Batam Concession Agency (BP) Batam has confirmed that the Gajah Mada Road, the uphill road leading to the Vista Hotel, which was previously undergoing repairs, has now been completed and is back in use by the public.
The Member/Deputy for Public Services, Ariastuty Sirait, stated that the reconstruction or repair of the bumpy road sections is carried out in a series of stages.
The initial phase has seen the completion of repairs using the reinforced concrete or rigid pavement method on the road section to improve the strength and durability of the road structure.
“After the road was diverted for a few days, it was reopened on Tuesday afternoon (21/4). Work is now continuing with the construction of drainage channels on the roadside in the affected area,” he said.
Next, Ariastuty stated that the final stage of the work will involve asphalting the concrete road surface, and this asphalting will be carried out once all supporting work is complete.
“Following the direction of the Head of BP Batam, Mr. Amsakar Achmad, and Deputy Head of BP Batam, Ms. Li Claudia Chandra, we will conduct regular monitoring to ensure that the roads in Batam City function optimally,’ he said.
With the completion of these repairs, BP Batam hopes the accessibility and comfort of road users in the area can be optimally restored. (AP)
