Through the momentum of the 2026 Earth Day Commemoration, mutual cooperation-based movements continue to be promoted down to the neighbourhood (RT/RW) level.

Through the Batam Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful Community Movement (Gema Batam ASRI), BP Batam, along with the Ministry of Transmigration, Forkopimda, PT. MEG, and the Tanjung Banon community, carried out a gotong royong (mutual cooperation) action to create a cool and comfortable environment, Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Taking place in the Rempang Eco City, this 2026 Earth Day Commemoration event carries the theme “From Rempang for Earth”.

Before the gotong royong, this activity was preceded by the inauguration of 6 Task Forces, and the symbolic handover of 300 teak tree seedlings.

The established task forces include the Drainage Task Force, the Orange Team of BP Batam and the Batam City Government, the Red Troops of BP Batam, Gema Asri, and the Road and Water Resources Management Team.

As for the 6 Task Forces, comprising 600 personnel, they will collect rubbish at three different locations. The rubbish they collect will be weighed immediately by officers from the Batam City Environmental Agency (DLH). The Task Force that collects the most rubbish will be awarded a prize as a form of appreciation.

The Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, emphasised that the Gema Batam ASRI, which began last February, is a follow-up to the national policy of the Gerakan Indonesia ASRI, as instructed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

“The entire sub-district has begun regular and varied community cooperation activities. To date, this ”Gema Batam ASRI' programme has been implemented down to the RT/RW (neighbourhood/community unit) level," he explained.

Furthermore, Amsakar also urged all Task Forces that were inaugurated to be able to carry out their duties sustainably. Not just as a mere ceremonial form.

Therefore, the Tanjung Banon area, which is a new development area by the Ministry of Transmigration, can become a comfortable and cool area, as well as a future tourist destination.

“I am with the mother of the Deputy Head of BP Batam, thank you for the support that has been given. Hopefully, this activity will be a form of our shared attention in making Batam a home for all of us,” he concluded.

Also present on the occasion were the Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, Member/Deputy for Strategic Policy and Licensing, Sudirman Saad, Member/Deputy for Public Services, Ariastuty Sirait and Member/Deputy for Infrastructure, Mouris Limanto.
