Starting his first day back at work after the joint Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday, the Head of BP Batam/Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad, immediately began inspecting various development projects on Wednesday (25/3/2026).
Also present at this review were the Member/Deputy for Infrastructure of BP Batam, Mouris Limanto, Director of Infrastructure Development, Boy Zasmita, and a number of officials from the Batam City Government.
The first project visited was the development of a park in the Hang Nadim Airport area. Following that were the construction of a box culvert at Simpang Helm, the development of a park at Simpang Frengky, the construction of a retention pond at Simpang Kepri Mall, the development of Simpang Laluan Madani, and the construction of a 50 LPD water treatment plant in Sei Ladi.
Found after the review, Amsakar Achmad explained that the various development projects reviewed were projects that had started over the last three months. Overall, the projects undertaken were in line with what had been planned.
“The work being carried out at the moment is a form of my endeavor and commitment, along with Mrs. Li Claudia Chandra. It is also a response to the expectations of the people of Batam City,” said Amsakar.
Amsakar explained that for the gardens in the Hang Nadim Airport area, several plants have already been planted. However, these plants look wilted due to the recent dry season. Therefore, Amsakar Achmad requested that the relevant unit carry out regular watering.
Then, for the Box Culvert at Simpang Helm, Amsakar also ensured that the asphalting over the Box Culvert would be carried out immediately after the ground near the construction had settled. This also includes the construction of parks at Simpang Frengky, where there are currently two parks and two more will be built. Amsakar also requested that the parks at Simpang Frengky be planted with vegetation that will enhance the aesthetics of Batam City in the future.
“From there, we continued to the retention pond at Simpang Kepri Mall. Work is already underway there and another retention pond will be built later. This construction is intended to minimise flood-prone areas during heavy rainfall,” explained Amsakar.
From the Kepri Mall intersection, Amsakar continued his inspection at the Laluan Madani intersection. In accordance with the plan, the Laluan Madani intersection from the Tiban direction will be widened to three lanes in each direction.
Finally, Amsakar also took the time to inspect the development of the Sei Ladi Water Treatment Plant (IPA) with a capacity of 50 litres per second. This development is expected to meet the needs of the community. It is hoped that this development can be completed and operational by August.
“Of course, we are very pleased, all teams from BP Batam and the Batam City Government have worked well. Hopefully, with the efforts we are making, we can see a better and even greater Batam City in the future,” Amsakar concluded. (EI)
