The 2026 Lebaran exodus at Batam Port has shown high mobility alongside safe and conducive conditions. A total of 43,791 passengers were recorded departing Batam via domestic ports within BP Batam's working area during the period of 13 to 16 March 2026.
The Director of Port Management, Benny Syahroni, said this figure experienced an increase of 4.8% compared to the same period in 2025.
Meanwhile, as many as 23,981 passengers were recorded arriving in Batam via the Domestic Port within BP Batam's working area, reflecting the high movement of people during this year's Lebaran Sea Transportation period.
“Passengers arriving in Batam via the Domestic Port actually experienced a very significant increase of 18%. This indicates the public's enthusiasm for this homecoming season is quite high,” said Benny in his official statement, Tuesday (17/3/2026).
He added that based on the previous year's trends and considering the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy from 25–27 March 2026, the peak of the return flow is estimated to occur between 27 and 29 March 2026.
Benny also appealed to all prospective passengers to plan their journeys well and purchase tickets through official channels to avoid ticket touting practices.
“We remind the public not to buy tickets from unofficial sources. Please ensure purchases are made through official ticket counters or online platforms that have collaborated with the operator, for mutual safety and comfort,” Benny emphasised.
This appeal is also in line with the statement of the Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad, who emphasised that service optimisation is the main priority during the Lebaran Sea Transportation period.
BP Batam has set up a Lebaran 2026 Sea Transportation Post at a number of strategic points as an operational control centre, including Telaga Punggur Domestic Ferry Terminal, Sekupang, Harbour Bay, and Bintang 99 Persada Terminal (Pelni).
“We ensure all port facilities, ship schedules, and service systems operate optimally. The Eid Sea Transportation Command Post serves as a control centre to respond quickly to any dynamics on the ground,” said Amsakar.
On the same occasion, the Deputy Head of BP Batam, Li Claudia Chandra, asserted that service readiness continues to be strengthened at all port points. Together with the Head of BP Batam and officials, she also conducted a direct inspection of the Sekupang Domestic Ferry Terminal on Sunday, March 15, 2026, to ensure optimal service delivery.
“We are continuing to strengthen inter-agency coordination to guarantee safe, comfortable, and smooth travel for the public. Security at crowded passenger points is receiving our special attention,” emphasised Li Claudia Chandra.
As a form of commitment to providing the best service, BP Batam along with all stakeholders will continue to improve supervision, operational readiness, and service quality at all ports, especially in anticipation of the upcoming peak return flow.
