To speed up licensing services, especially those issued by the Batam Authority (BP) Batam, all licensing services at BP Batam will henceforth be concluded at the Director level solely, in this case the Director of Integrated One-Stop Services, and will not require further approval at the level of the Sector Member or Deputy Head of BP Batam.

BP Batam is currently undertaking a major breakthrough initiative that will further shorten and simplify licensing, making it much easier for all stakeholders in Batam.

This is naturally done in order to improve the investment ecosystem and business activities for increased economic growth, job creation, and enhanced competitiveness in the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port Area.

Currently, BP Batam is undertaking changes related to the electronic-based licensing service (online single submission).

Along with the issuance of Government Regulation Number 41 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Free Trade Areas and Free Ports, the annex to the regulation contains a List of Business Permits that will be issued by the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port Authority, covering Business Permits for the Transportation Sector in the Port Field, Business Permits for the Health Sector, Business Permits for the Trade Sector, Business Permits for the Industry Sector, Business Permits for the Water Resources, Waste, and Environment Sector, Business Permits for the Forestry Sector, Business Permits for the Energy and Mineral Resources Sector, and Business Permits for the Maritime and Fisheries Sector. The total number of permits from the 8 sectors is 67 types of permits.

The regulations stipulate that the implementing regulations for these Government Regulations must be established no later than 4 (four) months from the promulgation of these Government Regulations, where these Regulations themselves were published on 2 February 2021, meaning all their implementing regulations must be ready by 2 June 2021.

When this Government Regulation comes into force and OSS has not yet been implemented, Business Licensing and other permits shall be carried out through the electronic-based service system provided by the Investment Coordinating Board.

At present, BP Batam has obtained approval from the Batam Free Trade Zone and Free Port Authority, namely the Coordinating Minister for the Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, to make several changes and adjustments to the Organisational Structure and Work Procedures.

In a short period, BP Batam has made preparations for significant future changes, and with the new structure, it will undoubtedly provide simpler, faster services and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy.
