Deputy Head of the Batam Concession Agency, Li Claudia Chandra, led a strategic meeting with business actors, Pertamina, and PLN to discuss the dynamics of global oil prices due to the Iran-USA war and significant increases, as well as their impact on the availability and stability of fuel oil in Batam City. The meeting took place for two days, from 9 to 10 April 2026, in Batam Centre.

In the forum, Li Claudia Chandra stressed the importance of anticipatory measures and cross-sector coordination to prevent price surges that could potentially disrupt the business climate in Batam. She stated that the stability of fuel prices and supply are crucial factors in maintaining the region's competitiveness.

“BP Batam is here to ensure that there are no uncontrolled price surges in the field. We want to keep the industrial ecosystem healthy, with guaranteed supply and stable prices,” said Li Claudia Chandra.

It also emerged at the meeting that fuel stock availability in Batam is secure and maintained, so businesses are not expected to worry about the potential for shortages in the near future, despite global price pressures.

The meeting, attended by representatives from Pertamina and PLN, also presented the current energy supply situation and mitigation steps against potential distribution disruptions. Business actors also conveyed various challenges they face, particularly regarding the need for fuel for industrial and construction operations.

Li Claudia Chandra stressed that BP Batam will continue to strengthen its role as a facilitator between the government and businesses, to ensure that every policy made is able to respond quickly and precisely to global dynamics.

Through this synergy, BP Batam is optimistic that energy stability in Batam can be maintained, thus supporting the sustainability of investment and regional economic growth. (AP)
