The Batam Industrial Development Authority (BP) Batam held a strategic discussion titled “Listening Closer, Moving Together Towards 2026” at Balairungsari on Thursday (02/04/2026).
In addition to being an open dialogue space, this activity also serves as a moment for BP Batam, businesses, industry associations, and community leaders to collaborate in formulating policy directions and economic acceleration amidst global dynamics and increasingly complex public demands.
In addition, this strategic forum also serves as a space for BP Batam to absorb aspirations and constructive criticism from the business world and industry players.
Various issues also received full attention from each party, such as economic growth, the investment climate, strengthening Human Resource (HR) potential amidst global competitiveness, to social and political issues.
“In the current global situation, the performance achievements of BP Batam and the Batam City Government are worthy of our appreciation. The leadership collaboration between Mr. Amsakar and Ms. Li Claudia, with the support of all regional components, has succeeded in maintaining Batam's economic growth momentum,” said Kepri community figure, Asman Abnur.
According to Asman, it is not easy for a region to obtain special status from the central government as BP Batam currently enjoys. This includes Government Regulations (PP) Number 25 of 2025, PP Number 28 of 2025, PP Number 4 of 2025, and PP Number 47 of 2025.
“Harmonising these diverse policies is not easy. The positive impact of this is cutting through bureaucratic red tape and simplifying the licensing process, which has long been a complaint of business actors. As a result, there will no longer be concerns about investing in Batam, he added.
In addition to Asman Abnur, a number of business people and other prominent figures were also present at this forum. Among them were Kris Wiluan, Abidin Hasibuan, Doly, Harry Feri Manik, Peter Vincent, and Saptana Tri Prasetiawan.
They agreed to support BP Batam in overcoming and facing the current global economic challenges. Moreover, with the unification of leadership between BP Batam and the Batam City Government, they are optimistic that licensing obstacles can be overcome effectively, thus creating a conducive investment climate.
“We desire a shared framework of thinking between BP Batam, businesses, industry, and community leaders. With the ideas generated, Ms. Li Claudia and I are confident that input and criticism from businesses can lead to precisely targeted policy formulation,” stated the Head of BP Batam, Amsakar Achmad.
The optimistic outlook, along with support from Forkopimda, the business world, and all other regional components, can be an important asset in driving the acceleration of Batam's development and economy in 2026.
They will also routinely hold this strategic forum in the future, with the hope that BP Batam can hear directly about the aspects that are obstacles on the ground.
“These inputs also provide us with various perspectives regarding future policy formulation. We hope that economic growth and investment can continue to increase with the support of all parties,” added Amsakar. (DN)
