Since taking charge of the city of Batam in February 2025, Amsakar – Li Claudia Chandra have once again achieved positive results in boosting the regional economy.
In addition to maintaining the region's competitiveness amidst global economic uncertainty, their collaboration in producing a variety of acceleration development policies will be able to stimulate an increase in Batam's Regional Original Income (PAD) throughout 2025.
This significant increase was recorded at IDR 2.36 trillion compared to IDR 1.78 trillion in the previous year, a rise of around 32 percent.
This increase simultaneously drove a rise in total regional revenue in 2025, recorded at Rp 4.29 trillion compared to Rp 3.7 trillion in 2024, an increase of Rp 331.24 billion.
These figures demonstrate Amsakar's – Li Claudia's – success in managing revenue sourced from the region's own economic resources. This includes regional levies, regional taxes, management of separate assets, and other legitimate revenues.
As is known, Original Local Revenue (PAD) is one of the important components in the regional financial structure that reflects the region's ability to finance various development needs independently.
“These positive achievements are inseparable from the good synergy of all regional components in accelerating Batam's competitiveness as an innovative, civilised city,” said the Head of BP Batam and Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad.
Not only that, Amsakar's leadership collaboration with Li Claudia influenced the rise in Batam's economic growth in 2025 by 6.76 percent (y-o-y) from the previous year's 6.69 percent. This trend has successfully maintained the rhythm of economic improvement and Batam's position as the economic locomotive of the Riau Islands Province for the past five years.
In fact, business actors' confidence in the leadership collaboration of Amsakar and Li Claudia also gave an impetus to Batam's economic structure.
“Ms. Li Claudia and I are optimistic that Batam will continue to grow into an innovative civilised city. The global economic dynamics and increasingly high public demands require innovation from all parties. Therefore, constructive input and criticism are important for us to continue to accelerate development,” said Amsakar. (DN)
